New AMA Federal Council and Chair of Council of Doctors in Training

Australian Medical Association

Dr Hannah Szewczyk has been elected as the Practice Group of Doctors in Training Representative with another DIT Representative yet to be appointed.

The AMA membership has elected a new Federal Council to begin its term from August, meeting the AMA's interim gender target of 40 percent female and 60 percent male representation on Federal Council. The AMA Federal now has increased Doctors in Training representation with two official DiT representative spots in addition to the election of Dr Ekta Paw as an ordinary member representative.

The new Federal Council was elected through a process which began in April with AMA members nominating for, contesting and voting on 10 of the 16 Federal Council positions. The results have just been finalised and can be viewed here.

The AMA thanks all doctors for their nominations, congratulates all newly elected Federal Council representatives and looks forward to working with them and those yet-to-be elected for the new term commencing 1 August 2022 and concluding 31 July 2024.
