Art lovers can now step into the worlds of five Chinchilla artists from the palm of their hand. The new Making Place mobile app that brings art to life, is ready for download from app stores today.
Western Downs Regional Council, in collaboration with Catalyst VR, announce the launch of 'Making Place', an app-based virtual experience of art exhibitions using augmented reality (AR) technology, a first for the region.
Council spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development, Councillor Peter Saxelby said this technology allows residents, tourists, and art enthusiasts to virtually experience the studios of artists Kristen Flynn, Regina Hyland, Helen Dennis, Dion Cross and Seth Gerke all from the palm of a hand.
"We are excited to leverage the success of our previous '10 Artists' exhibitions and take it to the next level with this innovative virtual experience. This 'next phase' exhibition offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to explore and interact with local art in an entirely new way" Councillor Saxelby said.
"Making Place Chinchilla not only showcases the incredible talent of our local artists but also makes art more accessible to a wider audience through the use of AR technology."
The app provides interactive displays with artist dialogue, speaking to their creative processes, inspirations, and the stories behind their works, further enhancing user experience.
"Our region's thriving art scene is only expanding, with this app advancing us as a 'must visit' tourist destination," he said.
Celebrate the vibrant creative community and experience art like never before with 'Making Place', now available for download in the app store on iOS and Android.
