New Beechworth Ambulance Branch Another Step Closer

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is continuing to invest in health infrastructure across Northern Victoria, with construction on the new Beechworth ambulance branch just around the corner.

Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne today announced Zauner Construction has been appointed to construct the brand new Beechworth Ambulance Branch, which will give hardworking paramedics the modern workplace they need to quickly respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving care.

Construction is expected to start in the coming weeks and will begin with the demolition of the current outdated ambulance branch. Once complete, the ambulance branch will support more paramedics already on the road in Beechworth to help meet growing demand in the region.

The new, fit-for-purpose facility will feature a three-bay garage for ambulances and modern workspaces for our hard-working paramedics - including two rest and recline areas, a kitchen, training room, longer-term accommodation, and secure staff car parking spaces.

At the peak of construction, there will be around 30 construction workers on site.

While the new ambulance branch is being built, paramedics will work from temporary accommodation at the former medical centre on Warner Road, Beechworth.

The new Beechworth Ambulance Branch is being delivered as part of the Labor Government's ongoing investment in ambulance infrastructure, with more than $280 million invested to upgrade and rebuild branches across the state.

Last year alone, construction was completed on 11 new or upgraded ambulance branches in Craigieburn, Karingal, Morwell, Epping, Foster, Avoca, Paynesville, Yarram, Ocean Grove, Euroa, and Wyndham Vale. To date, this is the most ambulance branches delivered by the Victorian Government in a single year.

The Beechworth Ambulance Branch is being delivered by the Victorian Health Building in partnership with Ambulance Victoria.
