New Beechworth Ambulance Station On Way

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is backing local paramedics with the modern facilities they need to save lives, with a brand new ambulance branch set to be built in Beechworth.

Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne today unveiled the designs for the new Beechworth ambulance branch, which will give hardworking paramedics the modern workplace they need to quickly respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving care.

The new state-of-the-art ambulance branch will replace the current outdated branch with a purpose-built, two-storey facility. This will feature a three-bay ambulance garage, two rest and recline areas, a kitchen, training room, longer-term accommodation and secure staff car parking for paramedics.

To ensure there is no disruption to emergency services while the new station is being built, local paramedics will temporarily operate from the former medical centre on Warner Road.

Construction will get underway soon once the existing station is demolished, and once complete, this brand new ambulance branch will support more paramedics already on the road in Beechworth to help meet growing demand in the region.

The new Beechworth Ambulance Branch is being delivered as part of the Labor Government's ongoing investment in ambulance infrastructure, with more than $280 million committed since 2015 to upgrade and rebuild branches across the state. As part of this project, 46 ambulance branches have been completed across the state.

In 2024 alone, 11 new branches have been delivered, including in Craigieburn, Karingal, Morwell, Epping, Foster, Avoca, Paynesville, Yarram, Ocean Grove, Euroa and Wyndham Vale - ensuring lifesaving care is available to every Victorian, no matter where they live.

As stated by Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne

"We're upgrading and building new ambulance stations across Victoria, including in Beechworth, with these modern new facilities ensuring Victorians can receive the best lifesaving care, now and into the future."

As stated by Minister for Ambulance Services Mary-Anne Thomas

"We're making sure our dedicated paramedics in Beechworth have the facilities they need to do what they do best - save lives."

As stated by Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes

"The people of Beechworth know just how important emergency crews are in times of crisis - so it is fantastic that hardworking local paramedics will have this new fit-for-purpose base to call home very soon."
