Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn recently announced a new kindergarten that will help meet increasing demand for early years services in one of Mitchell Shire's fastest growing areas.
Beveridge Kindergarten (interim name) will be delivered as a Victorian Government project, with an external kindergarten provider appointed by Council to operate the facility.
The new facility will be located at Fethard Road, Beveridge within the Lockerbie North Precinct Structure Plan area.
The project will include:
- Three kindergarten rooms, providing up to 99 licensed places
- Two maternal and child health rooms delivering services for families with children from birth to school age
- Associated outdoor play areas
Mitchell Shire Mayor John Dougall said the project responds to strong population growth in Beveridge and increasing demand for early childhood services.
"We thank the Victorian Government for its support in helping us plan and deliver the infrastructure our growing communities need," he said.
"Beveridge is one of the fastest growing areas in our Shire, and partnerships like this are critical to making sure we are keeping pace with that growth and planning ahead for local families.
"We look forward to seeing this new kindergarten open and being well used by families in Beveridge, providing access to quality early years services close to home."
Construction is expected to begin in later this year, with the kindergarten scheduled to open in January 2027.
