A new weekday deviation to Transperth's Route 30 bus is dropping patrons directly at Manning Community Hub's door, saving many the 1.4 kilometre walk from the next bus stop.
From Monday to Friday, seven buses will make the deviation - four from Curtin University and three from the Perth Busport. All but one will operate off-peak, enabling seniors to enjoy free travel to and from the hub.
It will save patrons a 1.4km round-trip walk from the next closest stop on Marsh Avenue.
Under the deviation, the Route 30 bus to Curtin University will turn left from Marsh Avenue on to Griffin Crescent before making a right on to Duckett Drive and stopping directly in front of the Manning Community Hub.
The bus then turns back on to Marsh Avenue from Conochie Crescent and continues its usual journey through Griffin Crescent to Elderfield Road.
Buses will make a similar journey in the opposite direction but will continue straight on to Griffin Crescent and Duckett Drive from Elderfield Road, rather than turning on to Marsh Avenue.
The altered route will be trialled for 12 months.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Manning residents are proud of the Manning Community Hub and now they will be able to enjoy it even more with changes to the Route 30 bus.
"The community and South Perth MLA John McGrath have asked for public transport access to this new facility and we have listened with a number of buses now delivering patrons to its doorstep daily.
"We are committed to listening to what the community wants from their public transport network and I'm glad we could make these changes happen."
