New CCTV of Blair Athol suspect, South Australia

Police have released new CCTV showing the suspect going to and from the Blair Athol park as the investigation into last week's sexual assault continues.

Police want to highlight the man's clothing, a light coloured top and dark shorts, and the side-by-side double pram he is pushing.

The victim is from the Afghan community and the suspect spoke to her in her language. He is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance and aged about 30 to 50, with dark hair with a fringe that partially covered his forehead. He was with two young girls, believed to be aged between 1 and 4.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Tomkins, Special Crimes Investigation Section said, "This was an extremely brazen daylight attack. The vision shows there were a lot of people in the vicinity of the playground, including passing motorists, who may have had the opportunity to see the man with the pram.

"We believe he walked in a southerly direction along Blount Street to the reserve on Leslie Avenue."

The public can speak to detectives face-to-face at the Blair Athol Reserve between 5pm and 7pm this afternoon, Friday 12 April.

The highly visible police presence coincides with the time of day that a 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Wednesday 3 April in the reserve which forms part of the Blair Athol Sports Community Club.

The Police Operations Vehicle (POV) will be staffed and set up to take any inquiries and information from the local community.

Members of the community will be there and available to assist with any translation as required.

A mannequin dressed in the same clothing as the victim and the girl's bike will also be displayed to help trigger any recollections from those who were in the vicinity of the incident.

During the investigation, police have released a computer generated image of the suspect, CCTV of the victim riding her bicycle and have made an appeal directly to the local community in Hazaragi/Dari. Police ask the public to help share the image as widely as possible through social media and the local community.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tomkins said, "Detectives have worked tirelessly on this case since it was reported on Wednesday last week. We not only want to track down the man responsible for this horrible assault, but there is a real sense of urgency to make sure those two little girls that appear to be in his care are safe."

Anyone with information or vision that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
