Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson has announced the appointment of Lara Dalton as the new Chair of the Mid West Development Commission.
Ms Dalton brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a strong background in hospitality, tourism and training.
A former business owner, and lecturer at Central Regional TAFE, she also represented the region in State Parliament as Geraldton MLA from 2021 to 2025.
Ms Dalton has also held executive roles on several school and not-for-profit boards, demonstrating her deep and ongoing commitment to her community.
Her appointment marks a return to the commission, having previously served as a Board member from 2017 to 2020.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"Regional Development Commissions are a vital part of the Cook Government's efforts to drive job creation and economic diversification across regional Western Australia.
"The Mid West is no exception, with a strong foundation in mining and agriculture and exciting new opportunities emerging in renewable energy, critical minerals and tourism.
"Lara's local knowledge, strong leadership and deep connection to the Mid West community make her well placed to lead the commission as it continues to support economic growth and regional development across the region.
"I look forward to working with Lara and the Board to continue delivering for the Mid West."
