New Changes Make Midland Parking Fairer

The City of Swan is taking action to ensure parking is fair and accessible to everyone as pressures grow in the thriving Midland CBD.

New parking changes, including three-hour on-street parking, outlined in the Midland Parking Management Plan, come into effect from Monday, February 23, 2026.

The City prepared the parking plan to address the growing pressure on existing on-street parking due to development in the Midland CBD.

More than 450 submissions from residents, businesses, visitors and service providers helped the City better understand the diverse needs across the town centre.

The parking plan divides the Midland CBD area into six precincts, but the City is prioritising precincts one, five, and six due to the imminent opening of the new train station and the occupation of the newly renovated Landgate building.

The parking plan:

  • Provides fair and accessible parking for all precinct users
  • Reduces safety risks and driver frustration
  • Supports sustainable transport options by encouraging the use of designated facilities.

Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said the Midland Parking Plan is a positive step towards ensuring residents, businesses, and visitors have a place to park to enjoy the area.

"As Midland Town Centre grows, so will the need for parking – our parking plan makes it fair for everyone accessing this growing and thriving precinct," she said.

"We're supporting local businesses by offering subsidised parking permits, making it easier for employees to access their workplace.

"Additionally, we are looking into residential parking permits as a way to ease parking pressures, to better support residents living in parking restriction areas, but this will take some time."
