Melbourne Theatre Company's (MTC) production of The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You starts a regional tour in May visiting six regional locations including Mildura Arts Centre which is the first venue on the tour.

The performance continues the push by Mildura Arts Centre and MTC to provide more schools, students and audiences in Sunraysia with the opportunity to access and experience award-winning productions, education programs and engagement workshops.

The Violent Outburst That Drew Me To You is a new Australian comedy play written by award-winning playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer that tells the tale about two offbeat kids at war with the world which will resonate with teenagers, and anyone who has ever been one.

Mildura Rural City Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said the comedy drama is aimed at young people aged 15 and over but has an overarching appeal to people of all ages.

"We are fortunate to have Melbourne Theatre Company visit Mildura for the third year running, and present high quality Australian productions aimed at young people in the Sunraysia community," Cr Modica said.

"This smart comedy reminds us of the impatient impulse in all of us to kick and scream at the universe, and the equally impatient impulse to take time out to dream of the future.

"Mildura Arts Centre has been collaborating with Melbourne Theatre Company for three years now, enabling Sunraysia audiences to see full scale productions with exceptional production elements. "

In 2019, audiences will be able to see two performances of The Violent Outburst That Drew to You.
