A Youth Advisory Committee is being developed by Council to provide a space for young people to give advice and input on current issues and emerging trends in the City of Whittlesea.
The committee will allow young people, aged 12 to 25 years, to have a voice and influence as part of the political process.
Newly elected Mayor Emilia Lisa Sterjova, Deputy Mayor Alahna Desiato, and council officers from the Youth Services team will also sit on the committee.
Cr Sterjova said the committee would provide an opportunity for Council to consult with and seek advice from young people.
"The committee is a great avenue for young people to provide feedback and input on relevant Council policies and strategies. It's time to put the views of our youth to the forefront." Cr Sterjova said.
"Young people will take an active role in setting the agenda and providing input on areas they are passionate about.
"We will be providing personal development opportunities and training during the 12-month term.
"The committee aligns with the connected community goal in our long-term vision Whittlesea 2040 a place for all and the key direction to nurture a participating community."
An expression of interest process opens on 11 November with the committee due to commence in early 2020.
