New date for postponed Hunter Memory Walk & Jog

Locals are getting ready for the rescheduled 2021 Hunter Memory Walk & Jog event, which will be held this Sunday 30 May 2021 at Speers Point Park, Lake Macquarie,

Walk, jog or run along the beautiful esplanade. The event provides a great way to get active and help beat dementia by completing. The course is family-friendly, and suitable for all levels of fitness. You can choose to take part as an individual or get a team together, and select whether you take part in a 2km or 7.5 walk, jog or run.!

Originally planned for March, the event was postponed due to weather conditions. Dementia Australia would like to thank all those registered to participate who have so willingly committed to continuing to support the event on this new date.

Funds raised through the Memory Walk & Jog series help provide invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia in Australia, their carers, families and friends.

Currently there are an estimated 157,000 people living with dementia in New South Wales. With that figure projected to increase to about 345,000 by 2058, events like Memory Walk & Jog play an important role not only in funding support, but also in raising awareness of dementia.

There is still time to register for the Hunter Memory Walk & Jog event, or learn about the many other events in the 2021 series planned across Australia. Each event offers fun for people of all ages and abilities.
