New footpath for Alma Street, Tootgarook

Construction of Tootgarook's new footpath on Alma Street is about to begin.

Stage 1 between Weeroona and Leonard Streets will be completed by December. The new one kilometre long and two metre wide footpath will give residents a safer place to walk, run and ride.

We have secured $500,000 for Stage 1 of this project under the State Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grant Program.

Local traffic flow will not be affected. We will be in touch with residents who may not be able to use their driveways for a short window of time to let you know when your driveway might not be accessible.

Quote attributable to Deputy Mayor Cr Sarah Race and Cr Susan Bissinger:

"Our Pedestrian Access Strategy aims to improve Peninsula pathways and identified Alma Street as a key link in the Primary Pedestrian Network.

"With a completion date before the busy summer holidays, this footpath will no doubt be put to good use straight away by both residents and visitors!"
