Leeton Shire Council is pleased to introduce new Gogeldrie Weir Riverside Park caretakers Neville and Denise Walsh, who will commence in the role next Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
Interviews for the caretaker role were held in late May with Neville and Denise selected by the interview panel from a very strong pool of applicants. Council's Manager Business Services, Brent Lawrence, said that Neville and Denise will be a great fit for the caretaker role at Gogeldrie Weir.
"Neville and Denise displayed a strong level of professionalism and friendliness in their interview and are sure to be well received by all users of the Weir. Council looks forward to them trialling some of their exciting, new ideas as they aim to make the Park even more attractive to local communities."
Neville and Denise bring with them significant experience running roadhouses, cattle stations, hotels/motels and caravan parks across outback South Australia and Queensland. Denise had a long career in corporate administration in a former life and Neville is a boiler maker by trade and successfully ran his own business for many years.
Gogeldrie Weir Facilities Committee member and Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Kidd also acknowledged the tremendous work that outgoing caretakers Roy and Dianne Trott have done since August 2023.
"We thank Roy and Dianne for their outstanding commitment to the role and the excellent job they have done building the profile of the Gogeldrie Weir precinct during their time with us. Their efforts have greatly improved the financial results at the Park, which is excellent. We wish them all the very best with their future plans traveling around Australia," he said.
Council's new caretakers for Gogeldrie Weir Riverside Park, Denise and Neville Walsh, are contracted in the caretaker role until 30 June 2027.
