New HillClose estate entry complements recently completed roundabout

HillClose residents are benefiting from the opening of a secondary access road into the award-winning Gladstone residential estate.

The estate is located six kilometres from Gladstone's CBD and offers diverse housing in a liveable and affordable community.

Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said the Palaszczuk Government was pleased to help deliver the infrastructure for the city.

"This new entry off Harvey Road will reduce traffic movements along Sundowner Road and provides easy access to the estate for residents and construction workers," Mr Butcher said.

It's a great example of state and local government working together for the benefit of Gladstone."

The second entry point and new landscaping has been delivered by Economic Development Queensland.

Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick said the new entry point will improve traffic flow in and around the residential estate.

"HillClose is a growing community with schools, shopping centres and major employment precincts on its doorstep," Mr Dick said.

"This second entry will ensure safe and easy traffic movements for locals."

Shadforth Civil Engineering Contractors General Manager Brad Moses said the project supported local Gladstone businesses and provided approximately nine full-time jobs during the construction phase.

Gladstone Regional Council Mayor Matt Burnett said council has been working closely with the community and state on the HillClose project and associated road upgrades since 2010.
