New ILO labour inspection guidelines and practices to be discussed at high level international forum

New guidelines and practices to improve labour inspections will be discussed at an international meeting of senior government officials in Valencia, Spain.

International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, will address the International Technical Forum of Senior Officials of Labour Inspectorates, which is expected to be attended by representatives from more than one hundred ILO Member States.

The aim of the forum is to discuss the future of work, and the practical application of the Guidelines on general principles of labour inspection, approved by ILO's Governing Body in March 2022.

Conference sessions will cover the structure and organization of labour inspection systems in the changing world of work, policies and strategies for the best use of labour inspection resources, collaboration with social partners and innovative approaches for effective enforcement.

The international forum is co-organized by the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy of Spain and will take place between 17-18 November 2022.
