The Albanese Government is pleased to announce two appointments to the Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal (the Tribunal).
The Hon Justice Melissa Perry has been appointed President of the Tribunal, and the Hon Justice John Halley has been appointed Deputy President of the Tribunal. Both appointments commenced on 6 August 2026.
The Tribunal hears and determines appeals from courts-martial and Defence Force magistrates in relation to service offences by Australian Defence Force personnel.
Justice Perry has been Deputy President of the Tribunal since 2023 and is currently a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia. Justice Halley has been a member of the Tribunal since 2023 and is currently a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia.
The Government congratulates Justice Perry and Justice Halley on their appointments and thanks them for their willingness to continue to serve the Tribunal.
