Griffith City Council is pleased to announce the official opening of the new neighbourhood park in Tharbogang, delivering on Council's commitment to enhancing liveability and creating inclusive community spaces.
Funded by Council, the park features a suite of improvements designed to cater to a broad range of users. The works include new inclusive and accessible play equipment, modern picnic furniture, concrete cube blocks with letters representing the park and reconfiguration of irrigation. Mature trees have also been incorporated to provide shade, amenity and natural beauty.
Mayor Doug Curran said the new park is a welcome addition for Tharbogang residents and visitors alike.
"This is a fantastic space that provides the community with a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for recreation and connection," said Councillor Curran.
"Council undertook quite a lot of consultation with the Tharbogang community who were very engaging. It's great to see another village In our LGA benefit from Council investment."
"We know how important quality green spaces are to the health and wellbeing of our neighbourhoods and this park is a great example of Council delivering on community priorities."
While the park is now open for public use, Council will continue to apply finishing touches, including the $20,000 installation of communication boards and a shade sail proudly funded by the NSW Government's Local Small Commitments Allocation (LSCA) Grant Program.
Council encourages families, friends and community groups to explore the space and make the most of this revitalised outdoor area.
