New Payroll Remediation Program Guide

Our guide helps employers and their representatives identify and correct large-scale employee underpayments.

About the guide

Our Payroll Remediation Program (PRP) guide is designed to help employers, and their representatives, identify and correct underpayments of employee entitlements under the Fair Work Act.

The guide includes information on:

  • diagnosing a problem and designing a large-scale employee-centred PRP
  • managing employee communications
  • finding and paying former employees
  • what employers should expect if they self-report to us.

Who should use the guide

The guide is for employers and their representatives who suspect, or are aware of, underpayments in their organisation. It is particularly useful for larger businesses with complex payroll issues. However, other employers will also find general information to help with their compliance.

Small business employers, or larger employers with simple or smaller underpayment issues, can find help on our page I think I've underpaid my employee.

Small businesses can also find tailored information and resources on the Small Business Showcase.

Our role in compliance and enforcement

We have created this guide to encourage improved compliance with the Fair Work Act.

We look at what an employer has done to correct underpayments when we consider whether to take action under our Compliance and Enforcement Policy.

You can find more information on our Compliance and enforcement page.
