We're improving safety at the New Street and Bent Avenue intersection in North Brighton.
The 3 new raised pedestrian-priority wombat crossings are located at the busy intersection adjacent to Elsternwick Park and Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve and will help to create a safer crossing environment for local school children, residents and visitors.
Works are commencing Monday 10 November and are anticipated to take up to 6-weeks, weather permitting. Road closures, particularly on New Street, are necessary to complete works. The traffic management plan and detour signage will manage road use during works.
The new road treatments support Bayside's Walking Strategy vision, and aligns with Theme 3, Priority 3.4 of the Bayside 2050 Community Vision, and Goals 3 and 4 of the Council Plan. The project is also included in Bayside's annual Footpaths and Cycleways capital works budget.
