The new Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States (OAS), Rodolfo Coronado, presented his credentials today to Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin during a ceremony held at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC.
During his presentation, Ambassador Coronado reaffirmed "our full commitment to the pillars of the Organization, such as the strengthening of democracy, human rights, full respect for the Inter-American Human Rights System, security, and integral development," and added that his country "has a comprehensive foreign policy, within which one of the great priorities is active participation in the most important hemispheric organization, which is the OAS."
For his part, OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin said "We are confident that your tenure will strengthen Peru's active and constructive participation in the work of the Organization and in the Inter-American agenda as a whole. The challenges facing this hemisphere require cooperation that is principled, pragmatic and forward-looking."
Ambassador Coronado is a career diplomat who has held senior positions in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, as well as key management and advisory roles at Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
