New Recruits Bolster SA Police Ranks

South Australia Police (SAPOL) is proud to congratulate the latest group of graduates from the SAPOL Transition Program.

Today, 22 officers from interstate and overseas have successfully completed the program, bringing valuable policing experience across areas including Domestic Abuse, Neighbourhood Policing, Frontline Response, Firearms and Counter Terrorism to communities across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.

Meet Dylan, who has traded the coastal town of Dorset in the UK for life on the Eyre Peninsula. Dylan says he particularly enjoyed the camaraderie of the SAPOL Academy, sharing members "really came together to support course mates."

Jamie, who served five years in the UK's West Midlands Police, says South Australia's superior quality of living, paired with SAPOL's salary and benefits, attracted him to make the move.

"I have realised how joyful life outside of work can be due to living in such a beautiful part of the world. Even just a walk to the beach is something I could never do on my rest days in the UK, whereas here (I can) every day after work!"

Having now completed the 15‑week course, Jamie says he has been equally impressed by both South Australia's way of life and the calibre of training provided at the Academy - particularly the high fitness requirements and operational training standards.

Similarly, Max, who has also relocated from the UK, says he was impressed by the depth of SAPOL's training, especially the psychological assessments and the law and policy components.

With "zero regrets," Max encourages anyone considering making a move to South Australia and a career with SAPOL to speak with others who have already made the transition and "just do it - if you don't, you'll kick yourself in years to come."

SAPOL's newest officers will now be deployed across the State, with postings throughout the Limestone Coast, Riverland, Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas, as well as across metropolitan Adelaide.

SAPOL continues to actively recruit experienced officers, offering competitive salaries, six weeks' annual leave, and a supportive transition program designed to ensure a smooth move into policing in South Australia.
