New school zone at Trinity Bay High School

A school zone has been introduced on Hoare St, Manunda, outside Trinity Bay High School, and along the full length of Eureka St for the start of the 2022 school year.

The speed limit in these areas has decreased to 40km/h between 7.30am and 9am, and 2.30pm and 3.30pm each school day.

The zone will remain in place until the school installs other safety solutions for students, such as a "stop drop go" area or off-street parking.

The introduction of the school zone and speed reduction followed a request from the Trinity Bay High School SafeST committee at the location.

The request was assessed by the Cairns Traffic Advisory Committee and it was determined that a temporary 40 km/h school zone was justified.

Formal endorsement for the zone has been provided by the Queensland Police Service and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
