Narooma's Bar Beach shark net will be installed in time for the October long weekend.
After a decade of service, the previous shark net was retired from the popular swimming spot. Eurobodalla Mayor Mathew Hatcher said Council was pleased to continue providing the net for both locals and visitors to Bar Beach during the warmer months.
"Made in Australia, the new net is designed to perform in our local conditions, responding to waves and swell so that structural stress is reduced. Floats, weights and midline supports keep the net more securely positioned, while the semi-rigid mesh helps it hold shape and reduces the risk of marine-life entanglements," Mayor Hatcher said.
"The piles that position the net have been moved further down the beach, extending the netted swimming area and its shoreline. It's a durable, low-maintenance design that should serve the community well for years to come. As with previous nets, this one will be removed from the water each winter for inspection, clearing and storage, then reinstalled in spring."
