The Andrews Labor Government is boosting ambulance resources in Melbourne's rapidly growing western suburbs, ensuring paramedics have the facilities and support they need to quickly respond to local emergencies and save lives.
Minister for Ambulance Services Gabrielle Williams today officially opened the new, multi-million-dollar Taylors Lakes Ambulance Station - one of 30 ambulance stations delivered by the Labor Government since 2015.
Located on Kings Road, the new Taylors Lakes Ambulance Station includes a four-bay garage for ambulances, four areas for our hard-working paramedics to rest and recuperate, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking to make sure paramedics are safe.
The location of the new ambulance station on Kings Road allows ease of access to main roads and major sites including schools, shopping precincts and community facilities.
The project was delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with Ambulance Victoria and builder, May Constructions.
In addition to the new Taylors Lakes Ambulance Station, there are 11 new or refurbished ambulance stations with shovels in the ground or about to get underway across the state - including in Gisborne, Oak Park, Clyde North, Rochester and Epping - meaning even more paramedics will soon work from the safe and modern home base they need to deliver critical care to local communities.
The Labor Government has committed approximately $249 million since 2015 to upgrade and rebuild ambulance stations to provide better working conditions for paramedics and ensure lifesaving emergency care is available for all Victorians.
