NZ First Party

Mark Patterson, Spokesperson for Primary Industries

New Zealand First is heralding the Coalition Government's investment in Telford as a success for primary industries, and for Clutha-Southland.

The announcement today, of $4.7million, will enable Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) to operate the Telford farm campus for 2020 and 2021.

"New Zealand First has been a vocal supporter of Telford, and the need for it to continue providing vocational services to meet the demand in New Zealand," says New Zealand First Primary Industries Spokesperson Mark Patterson.

"Our agriculture sector is pivotal to our economy. We need to strengthen training opportunities to make sure this industry thrives.

"This investment exemplifies the importance of Telford succeeding as the jewel in the crown for agricultural training in New Zealand. It also provides much needed certainty for staff and students.

"We applaud the work of SIT and their engagement on this project.

"This is a win for the Clutha-Southold district and we look forward to seeing the potential this investment can unlock," says Mr Patterson.
