Newcastle's International Terminal Open For Business

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Newcastle Airport's upgraded international terminal is now open, unlocking greater opportunities to connect the Hunter region with the world.

The terminal, along with the recently completed runway works, is estimated to facilitate $12.7 billion in economic activity to the Hunter region over the next 20 years - including an additional 850,000 visitors and creating an estimated 4,410 ongoing jobs through new tourism and trade opportunities.

Completion of the upgraded international terminal was made possible by a $55 million investment from the Albanese Government.

The terminal works expanded the terminal's footprint by almost 50 per cent and upgraded the facilities for border services.

The works also involved construction of a new holding area and gates with international/domestic swing capacity, meaning they can be used for domestic operations when not in use for international services.

International flights will take off from the terminal next month, with Jetstar operating three weekly services to Denpasar Airport in Indonesia.
