- South West businesses and organisations invited to apply for up to $150,000 in funding through Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants

- Applications close on 9 January 2026
Local businesses and organisations wanting to expand, upskill or attract new investment are being encouraged to apply for a Cook Government grant that supports locally driven projects.
Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants are now available and offer applicants up to $150,000 for innovative projects that contribute to sustainable jobs, expand or diversify industry, develop skills or capability, increase business productivity and attract new investment to the region.
Since its launch in 2018, the RED Grants program has supported more than 400 projects with over $40 million in funding, helping to build economic resilience and diversify Western Australia's regional economies.
Among the successful recipients is Gelorup-based Lamb Chop Records, which received $100,000 to establish a standalone music studio and accommodation facility. Construction is underway, with the studio expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
The project will help to further position the South West region as a hub for creativity and innovation by providing a space for visiting musical artists to produce world-class recordings, connect and collaborate. The business will also be able to offer industry experience for students.
Over the course of 11 years, the RED Grants program will invest more than $60 million into locally led initiatives across Western Australia's nine regions, stimulating economic growth and development while also diversifying our economy and building resilience.
Applications for Round 8 close on 9 January 2026. For more information including about upcoming information sessions or how to apply, visit https://swdc.wa.gov.au/grants-funding/red-grants
