- Gold Coast gets updated bus services linking to new Pimpama train Station from next week.
- Further timetable updates will be made across the Gold Coast network to align with new train timetables and improve reliability of bus services.
- Bus route and timetable changes form part of the final stage of the $16.4 million Northern Gold Coast Bus Improvement Package.
Commuters on the Gold Coast will benefit from updated bus services starting next week to coincide with the opening of the new Pimpama train station.
From Monday 20 October, the following bus routes will be changed to integrate with the new Pimpama Station:
Routes 721, 722, 724, 732, and 733 will be realigned to stop at Pimpama Station.
The alignments of routes 722 and 724 will be adjusted through a section of Pimpama to provide a better service to Pimpama State Primary and State Secondary Colleges.
The bus route and timetable changes to provide services to Pimpama Station form part of the final stage of the $16.4 million Northern Gold Coast Bus Improvement Package, a joint initiative between the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast.
Additionally, route 720 will be extended to Ormeau Station to maintain connectivity to this station.
The opening of the new Pimpama Station will result in timetable changes to rail services at all stations on the Gold Coast rail line, meaning timetables for 26 bus routes require changes to align with the new train schedule.
Across the wider bus network on the Gold Coast, timetable updates are being implemented on an additional four routes to improve reliability to accommodate increasing traffic congestion, with route 759 to terminate at Varsity Lakes station to improve operational efficiency.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the Crisafulli Government was focused on better connecting communities.
"We're delivering a significant pipeline of transport infrastructure across South East Queensland to better connect our growing communities," Minister Mickelberg said.
"The Gold Coast is a key focus, with Pimpama Station one of three new train stations on the way and the Logan-Gold Coast Faster Rail project progressing.
"With changes starting next week to local bus routes servicing Pimpama train station and other bus improvements across the wider Gold Coast network, we encourage customers to check the latest timetable before travelling.
"It is also timely to remind customers using connecting bus and rail services that their entire journey is just 50 cents, thanks to our LNP Government's permanent 50 cent fares."
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate welcomed the expanded services in the growing northern Gold Coast.
"We welcome and support investments in public transport, especially in the growing north," Mayor Tate said.
"For public transport to be effective different modes do need to be integrated, so these improvements will make it easier for our residents to move around the city."
