Amendments have been made to National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme legislation.
The amendments relate to:
- renewable fuels including co-processed liquid fuels
- fugitive emissions from coal mines and oil and gas
- emissions of methane released from landfills and wastewater handling
- scope 2 emissions.
Details of the amendments and outcomes of public consultation held in April and May 2026 are available on the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water's consultation page.
Unless otherwise specified, the changes apply to the 2026-27 reporting year and subsequent reporting years. They will affect NGER scheme reports to be submitted by Monday 1 November 2027.
