Nightingale soars onto Tasmanian screens

Elise Archer,Minister for the Arts

Tasmania's screen industry continues to shine with tonight marking the state premiere of the highly-anticipated feature film The Nightingale.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government supported the film with a $250,000 investment which has resulted in an injection of $4.5 million into the local economy and employed more than 70 Tasmanians as cast and crew members.

The Nightingale received two awards at the Venice Film Festival, and last week was presented with the Critics' Prize at the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Predominantly shot in Tasmania, this landmark film explores our State's history and showcases our unique heritage and extraordinary landscapes to the rest of the world.

The Nightingale will be released in cinemas nationally on 29 August 2019.
