Noarlunga mass vaccination clinic now open

People in Adelaide's southern suburbs now have greater access to the vital COVID-19 vaccine, with the Noarlunga mass vaccination clinic open from today.

Premier Steven Marshall said the Noarlunga clinic will provide both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines to those eligible under phases 1a, 1b and 2a of the vaccine rollout.

"South Australia's COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues to lead the nation and we have delivered more vaccinations per capita than any other mainland state," said Premier Marshall.

"The opening of the clinic today in Noarlunga further supports our safe and steady scale up of the rollout, and from next week the clinic will build its capacity to be able to offer 5,000 vaccine appointments per week.

"The vaccination program is our doorway out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we encourage all South Australians to roll up their sleeve when it is their turn to get the vaccine."

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the establishment of the Noarlunga mass vaccination clinic is a key milestone in keeping Southern Adelaide safe and strong during the pandemic.

"The Noarlunga clinic is a dual-stream facility, with both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines available and the larger site provides more capacity to provide more vaccinations to those eligible in the community," said Minister Wade.

"This boost of our capacity to provide the vaccine to more South Australians will be followed next week with the opening of another community facing vaccination clinic in Elizabeth.

"Giving every South Australian access to the COVID-19 vaccine is a priority for the Marshall Liberal Government, and we will continue to work with our GP networks and the Commonwealth Government to support and maximise the rollout."

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network COVID-19 Program Executive Lead, Catherine Hughes, said more than 450 appointments have been made at the Noarlunga clinic for the first day of operation.

"Our staff have been doing an excellent job providing the COVID-19 vaccine to our those in phase 1a and 1b at Flinders Medical Centre since the rollout began and this clinic will transition into our new Noarlunga clinic from 30 May," said Ms Hughes.

"We are proud to step up and open the dual stream mass vaccination clinic in Noarlunga so that we can continue to play such an important part in the rollout program and start providing the vaccine to more South Australians.

"The Pfizer vaccine will be available for those aged under 50 years in phases 1a and 1b of the program and the AstraZeneca vaccine will be available for anyone aged 50 years over so I encourage our local community members to check their eligibility and booking online for their vaccination now."

The Noarlunga COVID-19 vaccination clinic is located adjacent to the Colonnades Shopping Centre precinct and will open seven days a week between 9am and 4pm, except for Thursday when it will open between 12:30pm and 7:30pm.

You can check your eligibility and book in for a vaccine via the SA Health website.
