They are the champions our local communities just can't do without.

Those who turn up day in, day out for the good of others, often without reward or recognition.

If someone you know fits that bill, it's time to make a fuss - and nominate them for the City of Logan's 2022 Australia Day Awards.

Every year, extraordinary local residents are recognised on Australia Day for their invaluable contributions.

Anita Anderson, founder of A Touch of Hope, is the City of Logan's 2021 Citizen of Year.

Despite facing personal health battles, Ms Anderson's efforts to feed, clothe and care for those in need continue to improve the lives of countless people.

Juliet Thottunkal, 18, is the City of Logan's 2021 Young Person of the Year.

The teen raised thousands of dollars for the Cancer Council and other charities in recent years, while also finishing school.

Nominations for both categories open today and close on Tuesday, November 30.

Category winners are selected by a committee of community members and Council representatives.
