Noosa's iconic Park Road Boardwalk has been voted the best Public Works Engineering project in Queensland.
The project has won the top accolade at the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, Queensland Excellence Awards beating major projects from across the State.
Council CEO Brett de Chastel said the award recognises the outstanding work of council staff.
"A number of council staff worked tirelessly on this project, involving community consultation and closely monitoring the work to ensure the environment wasn't comprised," he said.
Mr de Chastel gave special mention to project manager Adam Brittan.
The judging panel labelled the iconic project a "model example of stakeholder engagement, working with environmental and geotechnical challenges, reducing operational costs yet not comprising on creating a world class public asset."
It's not the first award for the Park Road Boardwalk.
Earlier this year, it won gongs for Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Environmental management plus the Tourism and Leisure Facilities category at the annual Sunshine Coast Housing and Construction Awards.
It's also been recognised nationally, with an Australian Institute of Horticultural Award for its preservation of the environment during design and construction.
Mr de Chastel said it's a project Noosa Council and its community is justifiably proud about.
The IPWEAQ awards recognise public and private organisations and individuals who have demonstrated bets practice and innovation in public works infrastructure across Queensland.
Noosa Council's Peregian Digital Hub was also recognised, receiving a highly commended award in the Project $2-$5 million category.
"These two awards highlight the commitment and passion this council has to delivering quality infrastructure projects that benefit the community, "Mr de Chastel said.
