Major filtration upgrades at the Noosa Aquatic Centre (NAC) have reached the halfway point, with works progressing on schedule.
Refurbishment of the 50-metre pool filtration system and replacement of the program pool filtration system is now six weeks into a planned 12-week upgrade, delivering critical improvements to the centre's water treatment infrastructure.
Council's Sport and Active Lifestyles Manager Brad Chalmers said the project represented a significant investment in the long-term reliability, safety and performance of the facility.
"While much of this work is happening behind the scenes, it's essential to maintaining the high-quality swimming environment our community expects at the NAC," Mr Chalmers said.
"It's pleasing to see the project progressing smoothly and on schedule, thanks to the efforts of our contractors and project management team lead by Recor."
Specialised aquatic engineers CMP Corp have carried out extensive refurbishment works on the 50M pool, while filtration specialists Halogen Pools have upgraded the previous 26-year-old program pool filtration system.
The filtration upgrade is a key project within the NAC Upgrade Plan, representing a $2.28 million investment in critical infrastructure to enhance the facility's long-term performance and sustainability.
Work is expected to be completed in early September where weather and site conditions allow.
Council thanks patrons for their patience during the maintenance period and looks forward to reopening the pools once testing and commissioning is complete.
