A new pathway and landscaping works are underway in Linear Reserve, near Torquay Coast Primary School.
These improvements will enhance and beautify the strip along Silvereye Street and Cormorant Way in north Torquay.
The Surf Coast Shire Council project will link with existing pathways in the area, improving safe walking and cycling access.
"This is a great step forward in making our community more connected and active," said Councillor Rebecca Bourke.
"Projects like these encourage people to get outside, walk, ride and enjoy their local area."
Landscaping works along the pathway will include:
- planting of native trees
- installation of seating
- ·new drinking fountains.
A raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing will be built at the end of Cormorant Way, near Heath Street.
"This pathway will help to make this area of Torquay accessible for everyone, including the hundreds of Torquay Coast school children," said Cr Bourke.
Works are expected to be complete by the end of August.
