Perth Detectives have charged a 49 year old man of Northbridge over a serious assault in Perth on Saturday 11 February, WA Police say.
Around 9.35pm, the 59 year old victim was walking along the Wellington Street pedestrian overpass when he was confronted by the 49 year old man, who was unknown to him.
The man then allegedly assaulted the victim by striking him to the head and face, causing him to lose consciousness. The offender then fled the area, but was apprehended by police a short time later.
The victim was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The man has been charged with Unlawful Act with Intent to Harm and appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on 12 February. He has been remanded in custody to appear again on 7 March 2017.
