Northern crop trial results available online

Farmers in northern NSW are now able to access valuable crop trial information from the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) throughout the year, to help with timely decision-making on farm.

In a big jump forward, DPI's Northern NSW Research Results will now be published in an e-newsletter every three to four months.

DPI Project Officer, Penny Heuston said that the new online platform will allow the results to reach a wider audience more frequently.

"The aim of the e-newsletter is to keep farmers regularly updated on the current research being done in the northern region," Ms Heuston said.

"This will allow us to deliver trial results in a more timely manner, not just once a year when the hard-copy book comes out.

"The results will not just be from the latest trials, but also those relevant to the time of year, such as disease management results in winter and nutritional information prior to sowing.

"At the end of the year all papers will be printed and distributed in the normal way - this newsletter will complement the annual printed edition."

Farmers are encouraged to subscribe to the newsletter, so that they are emailed each issue directly to their inbox.

"The first issue is available now and includes results on 11 different crop trials, including rust management in faba beans and the yield response of canola and wheat to nitrogen application," Ms Heuston said.

"We strongly encourage feedback to help us know if the information is relevant to you and what else we could include to help build knowledge and steer practice change on your farm."

The first edition of the Northern NSW Research Results e-newsletter is available now. You may also consider subscribing to the e-newsletter.
