Northern suburbs students let down by Liberals' failure to deliver

Tasmanian Labor

Parents and students in Hobart's northern suburbs have been completely let down by the Liberal Government's failure to deliver the school upgrades they promised.

In 2018, Jeremy Rockliff as Education Minister promised a $20 million upgrade of Cosgrove High School.

Five years on, all that has been completed is a preliminary masterplan, with some aspects now being revised due to increasing costs.

After last year's budget pushed the anticipated completion date out to 2025, it now appears the project will not even commence until the 2023-24 financial year.

I'm joined today by Cosgrove Student Zeke and his father Jamie, who are one of many families let down by this Government's inaction.

Zeke was a student at Rosetta Primary when the upgrades were promised. He will potentially finish year 12 before the project is even delivered, which is simply not good enough.

Instead of obsessing over a $750 million stadium, Jeremy Rockliff and the Liberals should focus on delivering on the promises they made to school communities.
