ILO Governing Body To Hold Its 358th Session

The 358th Session of the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Governing Body will be held at ILO headquarters in Geneva from 9 to 19 November 2026.

A key event of the session will be the election and appointment of the ILO's Director-General on 16 November 2026 for a five-year term running from 1 October 2027 to 30 September 2032.

The session's agenda will also feature discussions on a draft global road map on the transition to formality for decent work for 2027-32, aimed at advancing efforts to reduce informality and promote decent working conditions worldwide.

The Governing Body will examine, among other topics, the follow-up to the standard-setting discussions on decent work in the platform economy.

Members will also review the Organization's financial situation, including contingency measures introduced to address financial challenges, progress in implementing ILO reform measures, and preliminary proposals for the Programme and Budget for 2028-29.

The Governing Body will also examine country-specific developments regarding follow-up on the application of conventions including in Belarus, Myanmar, and Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The Governing Body is the executive body of the International Labour Organization. It meets three times a year, in March, June and November, to take decisions on ILO policies, the agenda of the International Labour Conference, and the ILO Programme and Budget.

Accredited members of the press can follow the proceedings of the Governing Body in person and must contact the Department of Communication in advance to make arrangements.
