Queensland Rail is advising customers that South East Queensland passenger train services have returned on all northern lines this morning - including Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe and Airport lines.
This follows the completion yesterday of the second stage of the scheduled track closures for major project works between Bowen Hills to Eagle Junction and Northgate.
Customers are being reminded that, while the northern lines have reopened, works on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines continue and remain temporarily closed.
Buses will still replace trains between Varsity Lakes and Boggo Road stations until Monday, 20 April, when the closure affects only the section between Banoon and Boggo Road stations until 30 April.
The first stage of works on the Caboolture to Gympie North section of the Sunshine Coast line were completed last weekend and re-opened on Monday, 13 April.
Works for this extended track closure have been impacted by union protected industrial action, which delayed the start of scheduled works over the Easter long weekend and has continued to hamper progress.
Queensland Rail CEO Kat Stapleton thanked customers for their patience during the scheduled track closures.
"We understand how important rail travel is to get you to work, school, family and medical appointments," Ms Stapleton said.
"We are pleased to see trains running again from Bowen Hills north today and look forward to having the network back to full operations on Friday, 1 May.
"We have had productive discussions with unions, but protected industrial action continues.
"We hope to reach a fair deal that allows us to focus on the delivery of quality rail services for passengers and freight customers."
