Demonstrating its deep commitment to institutional medical advancement, OUE has endowed S$3 million to NTU to establish the Stephen Riady Professorship in Healthcare and Technology. The endowment is designed to accelerate early medical interventions, enhance healthcare accessibility, and support healthier longevity through interdisciplinary research.
NTU Deputy President and Provost Professor Christian Wolfrum, an internationally acclaimed expert in metabolic research, is the inaugural holder of the Professorship. Working across disciplines including biomedical engineering, digital health, artificial intelligence, robotics, wearable sensors, telemedicine, nutritional science and integrative medicine, the professorship will foster new approaches to healthcare that are more personalised, preventive and technology-enabled.
Complementing the Professorship, NTU Singapore and OUE Healthcare are also collaborating to advance the development and application of integrative healthcare models, which combine conventional Western medicine with complementary practices such as TCM. Leveraging NTU Singapore's strengths in research and education, the partnership will establish formal frameworks for joint scientific research projects and scholarly publications, specialised clinical training, mentorship and exchanges for TCM practitioners, as well as international healthcare conferences, seminars and collaborative academic workshops.

Professor Ho Teck Hua, President of NTU, said: "The future of healthcare is interdisciplinary. If we can break down the walls between disciplines, bring the right people together, and invest in the best talent, we can help Singaporeans live not only longer but better. The Stephen Riady Professorship in Healthcare and Technology, together with our collaboration with OUE Healthcare to advance TCM research and education, will help us turn this ambition into action."
Dr Stephen Riady, Founder, Stephen Riady Foundation and Executive Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, OUE Limited, said: "By establishing the NTU Professorship in Healthcare and Technology, I hope we can move closer to shaping the future of healthcare by fostering understanding and building connections between technology, medicine, research and clinical practice, as well as integrating Modern and Traditional Medicine to provide holistic patient care. It is my longstanding belief that innovation should ultimately support healthier and longer lives, as well as enhance the well being and preventive care for communities in Singapore and beyond."
Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Chairman of OUE Healthcare, noted: "We are committed to provide comprehensive care from a life-cycle perspective to promote morbidity compression. Through our partnership with NTU Singapore, OUE Healthcare aims to promote the development of evidence-based TCM and Integrative Medicine, to meet the growing aspirations of an affluent ageing population looking for holistic healthcare needs."
Aligned with its strategy to grow a healthcare services ecosystem encompassing the entire patient life cycle, OUE Healthcare, together with its associated company, Healthway Medical Corporation, has opened two Integrative Medicine clinics in Hougang and Aljunied respectively, and more of such clinics providing integrative care to patients will be launched in the near future.
