Northwest Mental Health Delayed by Liberal Cuts

North West mental health delay another casualty of Liberal cuts

The Liberals have today announced the release of a tender for the North West Mental Health Precinct, but failed to tell Tasmanians the most important fact, the project has been quietly delayed as part of the Liberals' cuts agenda from delivery in mid-2028 to 2031.
This is a 22-bed inpatient mental health unit to replace the Spencer Clinic, and it is desperately needed in the North West.
Instead of being upfront about the delay, Bridget Archer has tried to spin the release of a tender as progress.
After 13 years of Liberal waste, Premier Rockliff has put Eric Abetz in charge of cutting jobs and services to pay for it.
The Liberals have already failed to fund their $117 million promise to fully fund and fast track the first stage of the North West Hospitals Masterplan.
Now they are trying to shift attention to a mental health project that has also been delayed, another casualty of Eric Abetz' $700 million in health cuts.
North West Tasmanians don't need more Liberal spin. They need the health services, hospital upgrades and the mental health services they were promised.
