City of Darwin proposes to close the road reserve adjacent to Lot 1760, 14 McLachlan Street, Darwin and Lot 2195, 83 Smith Street, Darwin following requests from the adjacent property owners to purchase the land.
Road Reserve background
The road reserve adjacent to Lots 1760 and 2195 do not align with the road reserve area for other lots in the area and is currently not used as a road. We have assessed the situation and determined that selling the road reserve is the best course of action.
Sale to property owners
If the Minister approves the sale of the road reserve, it will be offered for sale to the adjacent property owners based on the current market value of the land.
Public input
According to the Local Government (General) Regulations 2021, any person has the right to object to the closure.
