NSW man charged with firearm offences

A man has been charged after allegedly wielding a firearm at a gym in Regents Park, NSW Police say.

About 3.15pm on Tuesday 21 June 2016, police were called to a gym on Amy Street, after a man allegedly pulled out a firearm, demanding to see a former staff member.

Police from Flemington Local Area Command attended but the man had already left.

Following inquiries, about 6.10pm, police arrested a 23-year-old man outside a unit on Amy Street.

Police then executed a search warrant at the man’s unit, allegedly locating a semi automatic pistol and ammunition.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm part and possess ammunition without holding a licence.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
