NSW police charge man following Bellevue Hill break-in and police pursuit

A man has been charged following investigations into two break-ins followed by two pursuits that occurred in Bellevue Hill last week, NSW Police say.

About 3.30am on Sunday 16 April 2017 two homes on Bellevue Road were allegedly broken into while the occupants were sleeping.

Numerous items of property were stolen from the homes including wallets with credit cards and a vehicle.

Moments after the break-in police will allege they became involved in a short pursuit with a Volkeswagon Golf, the alleged stolen vehicle, as it travelled through Darlinghurst.

The pursuit was terminated due to the dangerous manner of driving.

A second pursuit occurred soon after; this time at Stanmore after the occupants of the stolen vehicle allegedly used a stolen credit card at a fast food restaurant.

The pursuit was again terminated.

Following investigations by detectives from Rose Bay Local Area Command, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Redfern Police Station today.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x2), take and drive conveyance without consent, police pursuit – not stop- drive recklessly (x2), and dishonestly obtain financial advantage.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court tomorrow.

Police continue their inquiries.
