NSW police investigate suspicious fires in Sydney's west

Police in Sydney's west are appealing for information following two separate suspicious fires overnight.

About 2am (Sunday 13 January 2019), emergency services were called to an industrial complex on Newton Road at Wetherill Park, where they found a fire outside a small business.

The fire was extinguished; however, a large amount of material was damaged.

A crime scene was established at the business, which continues to be forensically examined.

About 2.40am, emergency services responded to a house fire on Waterside Crescent at Carramar.

The home sustained substantial damage.

The occupant wasn't home at the time and no one was injured.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command are conducting inquiries into the fires, which are both being treated as suspicious.

They're appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The fires aren't believed to be linked.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
