NSW police probe serious assault

Police are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted in Sydney’s east this week, NSW Police say.

Just after 6pm on Friday (22 December 2017), emergency services were called to a licensed premises on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Bondi Beach, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told, following an argument between two men, a 28-year-old man was struck on the head with a metal bar stool by an unknown man.

He fell to the ground unconscious where he was again struck with a metal pole before his attacker ran off.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics for serious head injuries and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital. He has since been released.

A crime scene was established and examined by forensic officers.

Detectives from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command are conducting investigations into the assault and are looking for a man who has only been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm-185cm tall, of a medium build, short shaved hair and with a heavily tattooed left arm.

At the time he was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap.

Investigations are continuing and police urge anyone who witnessed the assault or has information that could assist police to contact Waverley Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
