NSW police seek info after teenager stabbed near Albury

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed near Albury this morning, NSW Police say.

About 4am today, a 17-year-old boy was walking with friends along Glenelg Driver, Springdale Heights, when he was approached by an unknown male.

The male began speaking to the group and then threatened the 17-year-old with a knife.

The two became involved in a physical fight which was broken up by an onlooker and the male left the scene.

The 17-year-old boy suffered cuts to his hands and was treated at the scene before being taken to Albury Base Hospital. He was later released.

Police from Albury Local Area Command attended; established a crime scene and conducted patrols of the area.

Investigators would like to speak to a male who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 16 and 18, wearing a black baseball cap and a dark-coloured, hooded jumper.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
