NSW police seek public assistance after firearms and ammunition seized

Detectives from the Firearms Squad have seized pistols, shotguns, rifles and ammunition from Sydney’s west and are now appealing for public assistance to identify who is linked to the weapons, NSW Police say.

About 9am on Friday 22 April 2016, Firearms Squad detectives were assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit to execute a search warrant on a property at Tregear.

Police seized five firearms from a car parked on the property, with a further four firearms located underneath on the ground, as well as a number of other items.

The weapons haul includes two semi-automatic pistols, one revolver, two sawn-off shotguns, four rifles, a rifle scope, a silencer, more than 250 rounds of ammunition and a small number of .22 calibre magazines.

All items are undergoing forensic testing to determine if they are linked to any crimes.

Firearms Squad detectives are investigating possible links to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang and are asking any person with information about the weapons to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
